Tidbits for Friday

  • Apropos my translation of the essay on how not to teach gemara, Michael Freund comes along with an even more blunt article entitled: Teaching Kids to Hate Talmud. Educators, sit up and take notice. (h/t: PaleoJudaica)
  • Here’s an online library of hundreds of Hebrew-language non-fiction books about Israel and Jews. Monthly cost is just 25 NIS per month (or 229 NIS per year). Check it out.
  • Here’s a database of 10,000 halachic articles published between 1970 and 2003, courtesy of the people who brought you the responsa project. Monthly cost: 55 NIS. Annual Cost: 279 NIS. Enjoy.
  • Here’s a free online course by R. Dr. Yoel Elitzur on geographical concepts and place names in the Tanach. Well worth your time.
