[Inspired by this teshuva]

Why is it that we observe mourning customs for the death of R. Akiva’s students, but not for the Holocaust?

  1. Grace says:

We must not mourn. We must just rebuild. R’ Akiva’s and his students died for a cause. The 6 million perished for reason of pure hatred. We won’t let them get to us. We must prove that we remember and as a result are stronger and will never be destroyed.
