Odds and Ends II

1) Rabbi Chaim Rappaport continues his fascinating one-man crusade to defend the honor of the last Lubavitcher Rebbe. Having already duked it out with Profs Heilman and Freedman, he has now turned his sights to Dr. Tomer Persico in the latest Azure letters section. Sit back and enjoy the fireworks (I’ve already made popcorn).

2) An interesting discussion of contemporary Yom Kippur prayer at Hirhurim.

3) There are now “kosher” music discs (for Jewish Orthodox singers who didn’t sing in front of mixed crowds). You just can’t make this stuff up.

4) There’s a very interesting interview with Dr. Micha Goodman of the Ein Prat Midrasha about the present generation of observant and non-observant Israeli Jews. Pace ADDeRabbi, he considers our generation to be a “perplexed” generation as opposed to an ironic one. Whilst I don’t agree with everything he says, he nevertheless makes many valuable observations.
